On the Chippewa

One of the best times of the year for me is when the school year ends, and I am able to travel north to Wisconsin & Minnesota to spend time with family. I spend a few days in a cabin in Wisconsin, a few days on the Mississippi River, a few days soaking in all the artistic culture the Twin Cities has to offer, and a few days nerding out with my cousin who is a choir teacher. This is the only time of year I get to have this quality time with my family, and I will always treasure the fond memories I have made at these places.

The first stop on our trip is to the town of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where my aunt, Traci, uncle, Ric, and cousins, Sully and Sydney, own a cabin on the Chippewa River. We do just about everything you can think of. Boat rides, kayaking, stand-up paddle-boarding, water-skiing, badminton, pickleball, bike rides, and convincing my aunt I am too out of shape to run 10 miles with her! Many of these activities are represented in On the Chippewa, including the sounds of the ever-present nature (especially the swarms of vicious mosquitoes), my adventures learning the game of Bananagrams, the sadness I feel having to drift away from a home away from home, and all the fond memories I will have while on the Chippewa.
